A master's job is
never done, it lives on through the ages.
Officers for 1914 were installed on January 16, 1914 and this was the first time that the Installation of Clovis Lodge was made a public affair. The families and wives of the officers were invited and all had a grand time. In March a committee was formed for the purpose of trying to erect our own Masonic Temple. Future reports were to be forthcoming.
In April the new committee was named the "Clovis Fraternal Temple Company" and they were empowered to spend up to $25,000.00 on procuring a new Temple to meet in. It appears that they were going to sell stock in this new company to raise the funds to build the new Temple. The lease was up on Frietas Hall and was extended at the rate of $10.00 per month with exclusive use of Friday nights going to the Masonic Lodge.
In September of this year the Clovis Fraternal Temple Company submitted a bill for $50.00 for the incorporation of the new company. However there were not enough funds in the treasury at the time, so the Master and Secretary were given permission to go out and secure a loan for $200.00 to pay this bill along with a few others that had accumulated thus far.
In November the brethren of Big Creek which is a small town in the mountains above Clovis, asked for permission to go about opening a new Lodge in Big Creek. There was a new hydro electric plant being built there and there were plenty of Mason's working on the project. Permission was granted and reports were to be forthcoming. |
